Ben Askren has retired from MMA at the age of 35.
After 2 straight losses in UFC, Askren made an announcement on Monday’s edition of Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show. Ben says that he requires a hip replacement and will need to go through a complicated procedure.
UFC and ONE Championship made a deal in 2018 December and exchanged fighters, Demetrious Johnson over Ben Askren.
Ben’s first debut was against Robbie Lawler which he won by Submission, but he still got knocked out in the first round. Everyone was shocked when Robbie almost TKO’d undefeated Champion of Bellator and ONE Championship, in the first round.
After that for Askren it was a downside, he lost to Jorge Masvidal in round one in 5 seconds at UFC 239. Ben also tried his forces against veteran Demain Maia at UFC Fight Night, but he also lost via Technical Submission.
